If you get stressed out, it’s not a good idea to sit around and wait for things to get better. Relieve stress anyway you can. Exercise, do yoga, or go for a walk. Eating certain types of food and drinking beverages can help as well. Talking is another healthy ways to relieve stress.
When you exercise, the body releases endorphins. These chemicals fight stress. Exercise also helps you get your mind off of things. Running increases the heart rate. So does riding a bike. Kickboxing is also a good cardiovascular activity. Playing sports is another option. Walking is also beneficial.
Yoga and Tai Chi
Another approach to relieving stress is relaxation. Doing yoga is a good way to relax. It involves deep breathing, maintaining posture, and holding poses. Yoga originated in India around the sixth century BC. There are two main types of Yoga: Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga. The philosophy of Yoga revolves around the seven chakras and the three types of body: the gross body, the subtle body, and the casual body. The subtle body consist of energy, mind, and intellect. Energy channels flow through the subtle body.
Tai Chi has more movement than yoga and is consider a martial art. It originated in China around the 12th century. There are several styles. Tai Chi can be practiced indoors or outdoors. It can be practiced individually or in a group. The movements in Tai Chi are meant to calm the mind and condition the body. The results for the body include increased bone density, lower blood pressure, and an improved immune system. Tai Chi also reduces the symptoms of heart failure, arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
Foods and Drinks
There are several foods that have stress-relieving effects including turkey breast. It contains tryptophan which helps produce serotonin, a chemical that regulates hunger and feelings of happiness and well-being. Nuts, seeds, and tofu have tryptophan as well.
Yogurt with probiotics help reduce brain activity in areas that handle emotion and stress. Blueberries have antioxidants and phytonutrients that improve the body’s response to stress. Pistachios have nutritional stress-relieving benefits, and mechanical stress relieving benefits. Opening each pistachios with your fingers and chewing it with your teeth has additional stress relieving benefits.
Taking about general topics can relieve stress. Talking also reduces energy. Talking beyond your nervous energy could be detrimental though. It’s good to know when you’ve reached this point. Usually, you’ll feel tired. Napping during the daytime and going to sleep at night after talking is the best course of action.
