Time for a Personal Remodel

Time for a Personal Remodel

Time for a Personal Remodel.

Let’s start more than a conversation.

If it was only that easy..

If it was only that easy..

Let’s start a series challenge. Not with the goal of “buying the jacket” but getting to a place where we are happy and healthy.

But before the games begin. We have to know where to start and what we are trying to achieve.

So in seeking the starting point  we want to ask –

What does “Being Healthy” look like to you?

IMO Comunity –

  • “When mind, body & spirit are aligned with how one creates their life.”  S.T.
  • “Being Mentally Healthy – Having a good relationship with food, seeing it as fuel.” Beth.
  • “I generally think about mental health, of knowing and liking yourself. Self-awareness and self-acceptance proceeded self-transformation.” Surfin’ Southerner

We want to hear from you.  What do you think?

In researching this subject I came across a great article that I wanted to share from psychologytoday.com written by Melanie Greenberg, Ph.D

Health is a Quality of the Whole Person  – Mind, Body, & Spirit

Health is a large word.  It embraces not the body only, but the mind and spirit as well;…and not today’s pain or pleasure alone, but the whole being and outlook of a man. ~ James H. West

The root of all health is in the brain. The trunk of it is in emotion. The branches and leaves are the body. The flower of health blooms when all parts work together. ~Kurdish Saying

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

The mind has great influence over the body, and maladies often have their origin there.  ~Jean Baptiste Molière

A healthy outside starts from the inside. ~Robert Urich

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. –Buddha

A healthy body is a guest-chamber for the soul; a sick body is a prison. ~Francis Bacon

Importance of a Healthy Lifestyle

The doctor of the future will give no medicines, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the causes and prevention of disease. ~Thomas Edison

“To ensure good health: eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life.”  ~William Londen

The Need for a Healthy Attitude

The… patient should be made to understand that he or she must take charge of his own life.  Don’t take your body to the doctor as if he were a repair shop.  ~Quentin Regestein

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.”  ~Siddartha Guatama Buddha

Health means different things to different people. Take time to define what health means to you and what you are willing to do or willing to give up doing to bring better health into your life. Investing in your health now can pay dividends for the rest of your life. What is one easy thing you can do today to live healthier?  As the Ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu famously said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

I've gone through a huge mindset change in the last 6 months, when I decided that it was time to stop hating myself and start becoming healthy and becoming someone that I love. I got tired of loathing every part of me, inside and out, and finally just started researching ways on transforming all those ugly thoughts into good ones. By doing this, I was able to lose 23 pounds that I never thought was possible and started to actually like how I looked on the outside. But what made it truly amazing for me, is that my negative thoughts were lessened, and I wasn't constantly picking at myself anymore. Sometimes those negative rounds come in bouts for me, and remembering that I love who I have become and will continue to grow to be, is what is important. Health for me starts with the mind. Having a positive mindset and knowing that everyday is a journey towards betterment helps. You will slip up, and you will make mistakes, but the key is to not treat them as negative. Work on making your mind happy and healthy and the transformation will follow on the outside.
